The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) just announced it has delayed by 60 days, until April 3, 2009, the implementation of the interim final rule which changed the I-9 Form. As such, employers should not begin using the new form today as discussed in the January 23, 2009 version of KZA's Employer Report. USCIS has reopened the public comment period on the interim final rule until March 4, 2009. Thus, additional changes to the Form I-9 are certainly possible. Employers should continue to use the prior I-9 Form until further information is received. KZA will continue to keep you posted on this issue.
