NERC ISSUES REVISED ANTI-DISCRIMINATION POSTERS

Three bills passed by the Nevada Legislature and signed into law this year by Governor Sandoval add a new protected category in employment (Assembly Bill No. 211), businesses offering services to the public (Senate Bill No. 331), and housing (Senate Bill No. 368). These laws became effective as of October 1, 2011. See KZA May 26, 2011 Employer Report. In response, the Nevada Equal Rights Commission (NERC) recently released on its website revised anti-discrimination posters in both English and Spanish, which add “gender identity or expression” to the list of characteristics protected from discrimination. Employers can also purchase all-in-one posters from various commercial suppliers.
